Interview with June Kim from "Come Wander With Me"

So about a week ago, I asked June Kim from Come Wander With Me if she would be willing to answer a few questions for a mini interview for my blog... She responded shortly saying that she would love to! and I was so excited because I had been stalking her blog for the past two months and I love her style/tastes in music/art/fashion/cinema sooooo much! So please! will you read her very interesting interview exclusively on Grand Theft Thrift!





1. Where are you from, what is your age, and what do you do?
I'm 22yrs old Businese Management Student from Seoul, South Korea. I import shoes and bags for part time/fun too.

2. what made you decide on creating "come wander with me"?
I've always had desire to express myself. I thought having my own blog shows my personality/singularity. I wanted to share what I like to people in the world and also wanted to get inspired by them. That's why I started to have my blog :)



3. what are some of your main inspirations in fashion? weither it be a person, film, song or decade?
I think my main inspiration is my desire and my dream. I sometimes think myself that I might be too selfish but I think about myself a lot and I always get inspired from myself first. I dream everyday and write it down after I wake up. Mostly it's very creepy and grotesque but I really like to remind of daily dreams. I like 60's~70's. Thesedays I'm so fall in love with bohemian things a lot.

4. I notice you like Alphaville alot, in turn you must like Jean Luc Godard just as much? Could you tell me how you first were introduced to his work and how you came to like his films?
When I was 14, I had hard time emotionally. Maybe because of that, I tried to focuse film,book, and music so that I don't think about something which makes me sad. I found this film from one of my fav novel 'After Dark' by Haruki Murakami, the japanese famous author. Alphaville was the name of hotel in this book but he wrote about this movie into conversation. It says that Alphaville has not to have emotions. There was no contradiction/irony. And after I read about this, I wanted to know about this film. After I've seen this film I focused this main actress, Anna Karina. I foud out she was his muse. Most of her films were directed by Jean-Luc Godard. So yes, I started to watch her films which also directed by him one by one. And then I became having interest films in the period of Nouvelle Vague.



5. I love the music you use on your blog! what are some of your favorites?
People who visit my blog usually told me same thing:) and I'm really happy that they like this music. I chose very carefully all the time. Most of music are soundtracks of films. I like all kinds of music. I like Erik Satie, Jon Brion, Alexandre Desplat. Last two are well known for soundtracks. I like folks, trip-hop and ambient music too. Sometimes I even listen to radio where let the space communication or sound of ocean on air. But one of my fav is 'Come Wander With Me' by Jeff Alexander sung by Bonnie Beecher. It's from one of episode of Twilight Zone. It's American TV series in early 60's.

6. Do you have any plans for your blog, as in any special posts or feautures?
I've been designing my blog for weeks now. It's been a very short time that I re-started to post on my blog so I try to keep post something daily right now.



7. How do you think your blog sets you apart from others?
I don't know yet honestly. Maybe if people who constantly visit my blog, then they find the difference :) Well, I think my blog is not just about fashion but it's about my desires. Yes I used that word many times but for me, desire makes me alive. Expressing myself is the way I feel calm and happy.

8. Where did you get those wall scrolls hanging in most of your pictures!? haha.
Actually I personally made this scrolls. It's my room. Behind the scrolls, there are hangers. I captured the scene from Alphaville(which is my fav part in that movie) and send the files to processing laboratory to print it out. Actually I all did D.I.Y. for my room. I even painted ceiling! My room is all white. I really loke my room actually. And most of things are created in this little cube. I can say it's my own atelier.
